About Me

Hi, I'm Areeb Shams, a Business Intelligence Analyst based in Karachi, Pakistan. I’ve been working at Swich for over 10 months, where I specialize in transforming data into meaningful insights that drive smart business decisions.

My role begins with understanding stakeholder needs—identifying the challenges they face and the goals they aim to achieve. I then gather data from diverse sources like databases, spreadsheets, and cloud platforms. Once collected, I clean and prepare the data, ensuring it’s accurate and analysis-ready.

Using tools such as SQL, Excel, and Power BI, I dive deep into the data to uncover trends, patterns, and key performance indicators. I build interactive dashboards and reports that make complex information easy to understand, enabling teams to make confident, data-driven decisions. I also set up real-time dashboards and alerts to monitor performance and continuously support business growth.

I have strong expertise in:

• Power BI
• SQL (including complex queries, CTEs, and subqueries)
• ETL processes
• Excel for advanced data manipulation

My journey at Swich began with a 6-month internship in Data Analytics (Dec 2023 – May 2024). After successfully completing the program, I was offered a permanent role in June 2024.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Federal Urdu University of Arts, Sciences & Technology, and I’m now aiming to pursue a Master’s in Business Analytics to further enhance my skills and career path.

Outside of work, I enjoy playing cricket, bowling, badminton, and pedal games. I also love spending time by the seaside, taking in the view of crystal-clear water—it’s my favorite way to relax and recharge.
